WELCOME TO FEBRUARY!
This month we will continue to focus on table manners, good eating habits, and Valentine fun, as well as Dental hygiene.
Please go online and place your order for some new books for them to read and enjoy!
We will be having a
Valentine snack with the children in the morning on Wednesday, Feb. 14th.
Feel free to bring in
valentine’s for the children to put in their take home bags. A list will be placed in their cubby, and their Valentine bags will be hanging in the hallway that week!
The Importance of eating together as a family
Mealtimes are when children learn family values and families develop their culture. Eating together as a family is more important today than in the past because there are more competing distractions, more choices of activities outside the home, and a constant bombardment of information from modern technology.
The research is shared often: kids who eat family meals together are more likely to do well in school, make healthier choices, feel more connected with their families, sense that their parents are proud of them, and have a more positive outlook on life.
We have been tasting and exploring new foods each week!
We will continue to do so each month.
Eating healthy is so important to children, and it affects their bodies as well as their
minds and moods.
Ensuring they get the right vitamins and minerals in their diet will help them grow and develop optimally. They are also more likely to be energized and motivated, supporting their ability to learn.
Educating them on healthy eating during childhood will also help them make healthier choices as they become adults.
What does healthy eating mean for your child?
The term ‘healthy eating’ is very broad and encompasses a range of areas, including the following:
- enjoying a varied diet
- having a healthy relationship with food
- following the Eatwell Guide
- encouraging appropriate portion sizes.
